|Peter Rotter & John Lennard
Talented Canadian landscape artists Peter Rotter and John Lennard will unveil new works at the Gallery on the Lake in Buckhorn, Ontario on September 24, 2005. The exhibit, which runs until October 6, 2005, will highlight the artists' contrasting styles - from Peter Rotter's calm spring and winter images to John Lennard's bold colours and stunning design.
Peter Rotter states, "Landscapes dominate the subjects of my paintings, simply because they have
always surrounded my life. For me these places are found in Northern Ontario. Growing up it was
where I spent my summers and weekends. Growing older I've realized the impact it made on my life
and work. I am drawn to a particular place by a luminous colour, a certain slant of light, an
interesting shape or shadow, movement of sky, a memory of sound and smell." He goes on to add,
"These elements are what interest and excite me, stirring my passion to paint. Feeling is the
essential motif behind my work; the initial inspiration holds the key to the process that

John studied at the Ontario College of Art and the Art Students League of New York. He has shown his work in numerous collections in Canada and abroad as well as participating in many solo and group exhibitions. He is a member of various art organizations and is listed in "A Dictionary of Canadian Artists" and "Artists in Canada."
