"Ontario Landscapes" by Tim Packer
Over 30 oil paintings of the Ontario Landscape by artist Tim Packer will be on display in the main rotunda at Gallery on the Lake, in Buckhorn from May 20th to June 9th. The artist will be present for the opening of the show on May 20th from 1:00 pm to 4:00pm. Vibrant colour, strong design and virtuoso brushwork are hallmarks of Packer's work. From Lake Superior's Algoma Region to the protected wetlands in the South, the Ontario Landscape comes alive under Packer's brush. The iconographic shapes of our land coupled with dramatic lighting effects combine to form powerful images that are uniquely Canadian.
A native of Whitby, Ontario, he originally received acclaim for his watercolours and portraits. Two years ago he made a major stylistic change which has resulted in this latest series of paintings. Having painted his whole life the artist says, "After many years of searching, I finally know what I want to say and how I want to say it. In many ways this latest work feels like I have come home."
	Packer is an elected member and past president of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour and a Senior Signature Member of the Canadian Institute of Portrait Artists. His work has been exhibited widely across North America and is in collections around the world. The paintings will be on display from May 20th to June 9th and the artist will be conducting a water soluble oil painting workshop at the gallery from June 2nd to the 4th. The Gallery on the Lake is located on County Road #36, 3 kms east of Buckhorn and is open 7 days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
