Peter Lamont
Photography as an art medium continues to scale new heights and reach an ever increasing base of aficionados. Peter Lamont's exhibit, which opened May 21 at the Gallery on the Lake, underscores this new phenomenon. Peter has been living in Northern New Mexico for the past seventeen years. Known for its perfect light and extreme topography, the area re-ignited his passion for photography. This artist's work chronicles his journey across North America, capturing images that range from the glorious landscapes of the Sierra Nevadas in all their seasonal splendour to rarely seen delicate florals created by once-in-a-lifetime conditions in Death Valley, California this past winter.

Embracing new technologies, Peter pushes the limits of digital imaging.

Returning home to the Kawarthas brought new inspiration, his images capturing life on Stony Lake where he now resides during the summer months.

His subject matter cannot be confined. It ranges from
traditional vistas to the abstract, from tranquil moments to life in motion. Peter's diversity of presentation and scope of vision has swiftly earned him Canadian recognition as his work continues to be in demand.

Peter Lamont's "Going Places" will be the featured exhibit in the main rotunda at the Gallery on the Lake May 21 through to June 10. A reception is planned on May 28, from 1-4 p.m. to meet the artist.

The Gallery on the Lake is open 7 days a week from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. We are located 30 minutes north of Peterborough on County Road 36, 3 kms east of Buckhorn.
