press release

Gwen Boyes-Sitler
The Gallery rotunda will be filled with the colourful and nostalgic images of life in rural Ontario in the “Happy Days” of the 1950’s. These images captured by artist Gwen Boyes-Sitler will be on display from June 11 to July 1, 2005.

Boyes-Sitler’s book entitled “The Winnie Stories” was launched on July 10, 2004 at her home in Vankoughnet, Muskoka. This compilation of her stories with twelve original works of art are a delight not only to read, but to view as well.

The stories which are partly factual and partly fiction, depict a time in rural Muskoka in the early to mid 1950’s. Seen through the young and innocent eyes of a carefree girl raised within a large family, the stories expose the reader to the humour and emotions of life in a small Ontario community.

As a recognized Canadian Artist by the National Gallery of Canada and the Art Gallery of Ontario, Boyes-Sitler portrays, not only in words but also in oils, the vibrancy and colourfulness of her childhood years.

Gallery on the Lake is located on County Road #36. Open daily 9-5.
