| Nigel Shaw & Christine Marshall Two of the most prominent wildlife artists in Canada will be exhibiting their work, at the Gallery on the Lake July 7th, 2007. "Romantic Realist" painter, Christine Marshall, captures Nature on canvas in immense detail with exceptional artistry, emotion and sensitivity. Nigel Shaw also captures the fine details and amazing beauty of various rare and common birds, and conveys the personality of his subjects through this. Nigel Shaw was born in Blackpool, England and had his first solo show in Toronto at age fifteen and it sold out. Nigel's approach to his work has led him to paint lesser known birds and animals and to capture their rare colours and beauty. |

Nigel paints in acrylics and his goal is to "pass on a piece of knowledge about the bird" in his
painting. Not only has he learned about the habits, moults and idiosyncrasies of each bird, and
attention was paid to feather detail, light, shadow and expression in each bird.
Incorporating this with photographs, sketches, and actual materials, his
finished pieces become a moment captured in that bird's life.
Christine Marshall is continually inspired by the beauty of the rugged Ontario northland in which she lives. Although she is known as "Canada's First Lady of Wildlife Art" Christine's dedication to researching her paintings of Nature first hand, has taken her throughout the world. Christine's style of painting, known as "Romantic Realism", presents a positive and "warmer side" of Nature. |

Through her paintings, she brings the viewer closer
than ever to an emotional interlude with the animals she paints. People experience a renewed,
personal insight towards these creatures and thereby, hopefully cherish them even more.
Conservation groups have long received Christine's support, not only through her art
contributions, but by her spoken message of promoting awareness of the importance of protecting
the land and animals as she travels to all parts of the world.
