James "Keirstead" Art lovers who have discovered the stunning artwork at the Gallery on the Lake have yet another reason to make the trip to this spacious Art Gallery …and its spectacular setting. The Gallery on the Lake is pleased to announce the addition of "James Keirstead" to their roster of exceptional Canadian artists. The artist and Canadian icon will be sharing new originals from his extentive travels in Canada and around the World
Few living artists can claim the popularity that James Lorimer Keirstead enjoys today. Admittedly a driven artist, he has produced an amazing number of paintings - far ranging in subject but always distinctively Keirstead. Painting mainly with knives and oils he creates sharp, clear, boldly textured works that for many help establish an elusive Canadian identity.

Salmon River Mill	ARTISTS STATEMENT After over 150 solo exhibitions across Canada and the USA I am pleased to be having my first exhibition at Gallery on the Lake in Buckhorn . I will be bringing my latest and most popular subjects, stone houses with flower gardens, a series of tall delphiniums, landscapes thathave been dubbed "high definition", old mills and homesteads of eastern Ontario that are synonymous with my name. There will also be some east coast paintings in the show.
My wife, Robere, and I travel more these days and I've found some marvelous subjects in Ireland, the Cotwolds of England and our favourite haunts the Canadian Maritimes, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and the rugged coasts of Newfoundland. We have just returned from a trip to Newfoundland. This year there are hundreds of icebergs along the north shore. They glow in spectacular forms against the dark sea. The Opening Reception and "Meet the Artist" will be held Saturday August 18th from 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. The artist will also be present August 19th and 25th from 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. The exhibit continues until September 7th 2007. The Gallery on the Lake is located on County Road 36, 3 kms East of Buckhorn.
