Karl Illini Exhibit The Gallery on the Lake is pleased to launch its seventh season as the "New" gallery on the Lake with an incredible new exhibit by the artist Karl Illini. The Gallery will re-open on April 28, from 10:00 - 5:00p.m. daily. Sundays from 11:00 - 5:00p.m. Karl Illini 's magical studies of American classic automobiles juxtaposed with vintage homes and European castles have cemented his international reputation for artistic versatility and innovation, based upon his remarkably detailed work As a result Karl's paintings are collected internationally by some of the world's top newsmakers and entrepreneurs as well as members of Royal families Karl's subject matter ranges from wildlife and nature landscapes to the time honored homes and buildings of North America and Europe. His love for automotive images, first explored as an art student in Germany and Austria during the early 1960's, has been the impetus for stunning new work.
He has been recognized as a signature artist by Ducks Unlimited and the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters - both regionally and nationally He has continuously broken new ground, showing a flare for established and new techniques. The Illini Tangential Prismatica, uses inks in rich tonal variations to create an extended prism effect, opening up a whole new range of expression. He has been painting for more than thirty years and his paintings have wide ranging appeal. Illini's works can be found in private and corporate collections in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Japan. They have been displayed in many North America galleries and exhibits and have brought him numerous awards and prizes and commissions both Canadian and foreign. They are also available in limited edition prints and have been employed extensively on book covers, booklets, brochures, calendars, collectors' plates and promotional materials. The exhibit opens Saturday, April 28 and runs until May 18. Opening Reception and "Meet the Artist" will be held Saturday, April 28 from 1-4 p.m. in the main rotunda.
