Bruce Hall & Wee Lee
A brand new exhibit featuring the work of carved stained glass artist Bruce Hall and the 'chinese brush painting ' art of Wee Lee, will be unveiled at The Gallery on the Lake on Saturday June 16,2007. The Gallery has been showing the unique works of Bruce Hall since 1992, during which time over 450 pieces have passed to proud new owners. Bruce sandblasts single sheets of multicolored stained glass to expose differing colors in lower strata in the sheet and alter the reflective properties of the top surface. The resultant rendering is mounted and framed in the conventional manner to produce original wall hangings. As well as being a unique art medium, each piece is an original. Varied designs include subjects in symbolism, wildlife, wilderness, and nature. The exhibit will feature samplings in these groups, with the highlight of this exhibit being more recent works of an intuitive nature.

Do visit the Gallery and see why many private persons, corporations and government bodies have acquired Bruce Hall's work for their own pleasure and gift giving.

Wee Lee is a Regina-based artist with a very unique vision. Lee was born and educated in Saigon, Vietnam. There, his interest in nature and art came together as he studied Chinese brush painting at the Oriental Art School Lee's paintings are characterized by loose, atmospheric backgrounds and foregrounds of precisely detailed plants and animals living in harmony with one another. He uses acrylic paint on silk to create long lasting, luminous vibrant images.

Wee Lee chooses to refer to his work not as "wildlife painting" but as "nature art". For him, this is a term which implies a more ecologically inclusive vision of the scenes he depicts. Lee's art also serves to support the work of environmental groups and his depictions of endangered species and wild species, are often used as symbols of the habitat conservation movement. In addition, Lee donates his work to support fundraising for conservation groups. Wee Lee "hopes it will stir some concern for nature in people and help people understand the joys of nature".

Opening Reception: June 16th, 2007, 1 - 4:00 pm with both artists present.
The exhibit continues until Friday July 6, 2007

The Gallery on the Lake is located on County Road 36, 3 kms East of Buckhorn.
