| “I enjoy creating a visual feast for the eye by interweaving drawing, my photo images with layers of translucent encaustic painting.” Susan graduated from Concordia University, Montreal with an honours BFA and a post graduate diploma in Art Education. After experiencing the North while teaching, she continued her education and graduated from Trent University, Peterborough with a Master’s Degree specializing in First Nations Art History. From an early passion for printmaking and especially photography, she embraced the specialized techniques of encaustic painting, an ancient medium rediscovered and currently popular with a growing number of artists. Susan shares her enthusiasm in private workshops given at her studio, group workshops at Angeline’s Inn, Bloomfield and during 2 weeks at the Haliburton Summer School of the Arts. She has had numerous solo shows in the Peterborough area including a major solo show at the Art Gallery of Peterborough, January 08. Her work has been juried into a prestigious show in Sagamihara, Japan and has also been shown in Denver, Co. She is represented by The Elaine Fleck Gallery, Toronto; Soho Myriad Gallery, Atlanta; The Ethel Curry Gallery, Haliburton. |
