| John Lennard |
| John Lennard is a contemporary landscape painter who vividly expresses his love of art and nature in his colourful oil canvasses. His style is reminiscent of some of the Group of Seven with brilliants reds, oranges, and blues used to illustrate the Canadian forests and country sides. His paintings reflect a direct response to nature and the environment. They intensify the subject and follow the seasons with a strong rich treatment which evokes the remembered sensations of season, place, and time. The bold colours and strong design enable the viewers to look into the shadows and see light and colour they never knew existed in nature. John studied at the Ontario College of Art and the Art Students' League of New York. He has shown his work in numerous collections in Canada and abroad as well as participating in many solo and group exhibitions. He is a member of various art organizations and is listed in "A Dictionary of Canadian Artists" and "Artists in Canada". A native of Barrie, John grew up in the Toronto area, and now resides in rural Central Ontario. |
