Tim Packer

"Still Shining" an exhibition of brand new works by Tim Packer August 3-30 The incredibly popular Tim Packer is the featured artist during the month of August in the Gallery on the Lake rotunda . Highly anticipated and not to be missed, the show runs from August 3rd to 30th with the Opening Reception and Meet the Artist on August 10th from 1-4 p.m. In this show Packer revisits many of his favourite motifs from the past 20 years. Says Packer “Events of this past year have made me reflect deeply on my career and life to date. Going back to some of these familiar subjects has provided me with a level of comfort as well as providing me a means of recording my creative journey. The fact that I am bringing everything I have learned over the years to some of these earlier motifs has resulted, I think, in some of my best work to date.” Tim Packer knew that he wanted to be an artist, from the time he was 12 years old, but his dream was put on hold, while pursuing a chosen career as a police officer . Tim enjoyed his career and became known on the force for his artistic skills. Promotions and retirements were celebrated with original caricatures and watercolours of his colleagues. This allowed him to practice his fine art skills. In January 2000, he made the transition into becoming a full-time artist. Now he is “Living the Life - transitioning from the Police Force to the Painter’s Studio”. He paints both en plein air (out in the open) and in his studio, bringing the energy of nature into the frame. Tim Packer is the feature artist for the month of August at The Gallery on the Lake in Buckhorn. This exhibit showcases his most recent collection of major works. There will be at least three large 48”x72” pieces, in horizontal as well as vertical orientations, in addition to a number of smaller to medium sized pieces. An additional display of his very popular “giclees” which are stunning canvas reproductions of some of his most popular originals will also be available to view and purchase It is fitting that this show will be hosted by Gallery On The Lake as in many ways Packer’s career actually began here. Packer came to the Gallery almost 20 years ago as a portrait artist and it was the support and encouragement of its owners ,that led him to pursue his love of painting the landscape. Well worth the drive to Buckhorn, the exhibit opens on August 3 and continues to August 30. The Gallery on the Lake, renowned as one of the most beautiful galleries in Ontario, is located on County Road 36, 3kms east of Buckhorn.
