Joseph Lorincz
artwork

Joseph Lorincz, born in Transylvania, came to Canada at the age of 12.  As an adult he "job hopped", married, and fathered two sons.

Admitting he tried but didn't find happiness from a bottle, he was in search of that something that was missing.  He successfully drank himself into a state which he calls "The Other Side of Midnight".  At age 49 he sculpted his first non-functional piece, a five foot statue called "The Other Side of Midnight".

Joseph likes to take a simple piece of maple or mahogany and transform it into a thing of beauty.  He has chosen to work mainly with maples and metal.  People are fascinated by his work and his personality.

Joe's work is noted for the sensuality and passion it exudes; they trigger emotion and demand touch.  He would say that his passion is love and his work merely bait.

Joseph has been an artist-in-residence at the Centre For the Arts School in Seven Mile Island on Lake Scugog.  He has participated in numerous shows including Art in the Park at the Markham Museum and Historical Village.
